Why is there not setting in this game? The music is so utterly annoying and I want to turn it off.

Unfortunately, there isn't a setting to turn off the music in game. If you're using a browser you can mute the tab for the game, and the same option will apply if you're using the R2Games client. You can right click the browser tab and mute the site, and in the client there's a sound icon you can select to mute your sound.

Yes, there is. I found it. Gear icon underneith the toon picture. To the right of the level number.
