Forum's called Suggestions and Feedback, so I'm going to state a few observations I've made from watching guild chat and world chat recently. I make no claim that I speak for everyone, but I know from what I've seen that I'm not the only person who thinks this way.
Maybe from a GMs standpoint, this weeks events are big. There is a lot going on. However, compared to the past big events (clovers, oranges, christmas and valentine's day having quest lines with stories) all of what is going on is extremely lackluster. There's chance to experience stuff we'd probably never get to experience for two hours, soul shards, and gold/silver badges this event. Past big events gave people several ways to enhance their characters. This one does not.
People have said that people just want free stuff because they are lazy and do not want to work for anything. How about the people who are wanting events of that kind that have worked their butts off to get hellwing, angel lord wings, a demon king/burning angel/both, a 3rd form or higher pixie, all +13 purple slayer/orange slayer/superior fragarch VII. They don't get to that point being lazy. What about when they want free stuff? Does it still apply? I've seen several people of that type complaining about events. People want to be able to advance their characters.
I actually feel sorry for the people who every week hope for the gmut event, as I know there are people who've been saving up since the last GMUT event months ago and don't want to work on anything else out of worry that if they do and they spend all their gold, the event will come and their chance at prospering from the gmut event will be gone for who knows how long it'll be again (before anyone says it, I have hellwing so I could care less about gmut event coming or not.)
Moral of all of this, people want A.) Things to continue working towards in the game, and B.) The chance to see what they've worked for come to fruition. With the amount of permanent content in game, only way to improve after a certain point is to run avernal and crypt and hope you get lucky should you get a prize in crypt, or when you get an avernal pack. Soul is the only constant way to improve, and even that starts to get stagnant when you need 100+ shards an upgrade.
It also doesn't help that people can go look at other versions of the game, see what other content the game has to offer, and then sit around wondering why R2 hasn't put some things in yet, or at all. It's a basic law of economics, competition. Not saying other versions are better, but when other versions offer more content and R2's twiddling their thumbs waiting to put out content other versions have had out for months now, people are bound to get dissatisfied, and don't want to go to the competition because they've already invested alot of resources in this version and don't want their time and money to go to waste.
In a nutshell, people are bored and want more permanent content that gives them something to actively work towards for the long run, not pet equipment that can be obtained and enchanted in a matter of days, or a goddess system which relies on waiting around for loyalty and charm to accumulate and luck that people will buy your blessing. How about the pet soul thing we've had teasing us since january? How about letting us know what the last equipment slot, Soul, is like? 2nd rebirth? Raise the level cap? Perfect form of fragarach?
The players who've played over the past year want a reason to keep playing, R2, not a reason to cash for novelty mounts and costumes.
