Totem evolving

why do we need 2 same type and same Lv(30) of Totem to evolve them? THE REQUIRED TOTEM IS ONLY ONE Lv30. why we need 2 Lv30 of them?

One is the totem you need to evolve and one is used as as evolution material and will be used for evolution as the other materials (evolution and catalyst stones). If you want to know why is like that .. well .. it has been coded that way
